Hello
This is Tara Shehata, I'm a multilingual Director, Writer, Creative and Editor.
My Story
I grew up in Cairo, Egypt in a French-speaking school with a passion for Film and a need to explore the adventures I grew up watching on screen! I decided to travel to the UK to study where I later graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from The University of Warwick in 2016, and then with a Master's in Directing from Met Film School, 2018.
When I graduated, I worked on various jobs, from being a Runner and an AD on commercial film sets in Egypt, to an Editor in a company in London and later a Creative & Director on several films, music videos, documentaries and adverts. I've embarked on all of these jobs with an open heart to learn, grow and experience the different aspects of the visual arts. I'm now working as a full time Director & Creative, working on each project with the same excitement that launched me into Film many years ago.
My latest short film, The Shadow of Cairo, has screened at over a dozen international film festivals; it was selected at Oscar-qualifying film festivals, Cinequest, and New York International Children's Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Jury Award for Best Short film. My latest work includes directing an advert for Bun N' Glaze, and directing Egypt Talk, a 6-episode docuseries.
